Prof. Sergei Markov Studying in Russia Under Global Partners Project Grant

June 13, 2004, Greencastle, Ind. - Sergei Markov, assistant professor of biology at DePauw University, "will travel to Russia is to work collaboratively with colleagues at Irkutsk State University in Siberia, who are studying an endemic species of algae from Lake Baikal that is capable of producing large quantities of hydrogen fuel," notes the Web site of the Global Partners Project. The organization, noting that it has awarded Dr. Markov a travel grant, adds, "He will also visit Moscow to make plans for a winter 2005 study trip for DePauw students, 'Russia: Tradition and Change'."
