Top-Rated New York City DJ Kristie Weimar Burke '89 Speaks February 8

February 1, 1999, Greencastle, Ind. - A DePauw University alumna who is one of the top-rated disc jockeys in New York City will share her experiences in and advice about how to succeed in major market radio with students and faculty at her alma mater on Monday, February 8. Kristie Weimar Burke, a 1989 DePauw graduate, will speak at 7:30 p.m. in the Center for Contemporary Media, Watson Forum. It is open and free to the public.
Since 1994 Burke has been known to her listeners as Kristie McIntyre, the mid-day DJ and host of the "All Request Lunch Hour" on WPLJ-FM. She has been heard all over Europe on Voice of America and on more than 40 stations in the United States as host of the syndicated Top 40 show All Nite Cafe. She recently was named "Best Mid-Day Show Host" at the 1998 New York City Achievement in Radio Awards.
As a student at DePauw, she studied classical/operatic voice and was active on the student-operated radio station, WGRE-FM, for four years. She served as production director, program director and station manager. She received the WGRE Award as the outstanding senior on the radio staff as well as the Turnell Award for excellence in broadcasting.
Following graduation, she worked as a disc jockey, music director and assistant program director at stations in Indianapolis; New Bedford, Mass.; Baltimore; Boston; and New York. She also has done voice-over work in both radio and television.
