Bill-Lynch-2004.jpgSeptember 4, 2004, Memphis, Tenn. - The Bill Lynch era got off to a great start as the new coach's DePauw University Tigers defeated host Rhodes College 20-14 this afternoon. DePauw responded to an early 7-0 deficit with 20 straight points to defeat their Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference rival. Highlights included an 83-yard touchdown run for freshman Jeremiah Marks.

"Moments after he walked off Fargason Field, DePauw holder Kyle McGrath was on his cell phone telling his parents in Indianapolis about the Tigers' 20-14 victory over Rhodes on Saturday," begins an account of the game by Bill Sorrell in the Memphis Commercial Appeal. "'We played hard and I didn't make any mistakes,' [McGrath] said. Few of his teammates did as DePauw defeated the Lynx for the fourth straight time. The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference loss ended Rhodes' eight-game home winning streak."
