Andy Buroker '84 Receives Distinguished Service Award from IU School of Law

October 6, 2004, Greencastle, Ind. - Andrew B. Buroker, a partner in the Indianapolis-based law firm of Krieg DeVault LLP and a 1984 graduate of DePauw University, is one of five recipients of the Indiana University (Bloomington) School of Law's 2004 Distinguished Service Award. Buroker is being honored for his exceptional service to the American Heart Association. The Distinguished Service Award recognizes Indiana law graduates who have distinguished themselves in service to their communities or to the Law School.
Andy Buroker was recently elected to serve as the national secretary-treasurer of the Board of Directors of the American Heart Association (read more here). He has served on its national board of directors for two years. Mr. Buroker is the past chairman of the Greater Midwest Affiliate and past chairman and member of the National Advocacy Coordinating Committee. He also previously served as the chairman of the advocacy committee of the Indiana Affiliate of the American Heart Association.
A news release from the law firm states, "Buroker is a graduate of DePauw University and the Indiana University School of Law (Bloomington). He has also studied at the University of London and Georgetown University. Mr. Buroker concentrates his practice in commercial and real estate finance, real estate and environmental transactions, and general business matters." Buroker has written and presented a number of educational seminars on commercial loan transactions, lender liability, annexation, zoning and other real estate topics. He also provides pro bono legal services through the Community Organizations Legal Assistance Project and is active in a number of community, political and charitable activities.
