September 9, 2004
Greencastle, Ind. - The DePauw men's basketball team is taking advantage of the University's week-long fall break to travel abroad to Ireland. The trip takes place October 16-24.
The Tigers play three games while there with two in Dublin and one in Cork. The team will also tour some smaller coastal towns in the southern part of the country and visit the famous Blarney Stone.
"This is an excellent opportunity for our student-athletes," DePauw head coach Bill Fenlon said. "With the regular season stretching over Winter Term, our players miss out on the opportunities that other students have with reagrds to travel abroad."
The men's basketball team has taken three overseas trips in Fenlon's 13 years. They visited the former Czechoslovakia, Hungary and Austria in 1992 and went to Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and France in 1997. In 2000, the team toured England.
