udell asset based.jpgNovember 29, 2004, Greencastle, Ind. - "In the first definitive textbook ever written on the asset-based lending industry, Professor Gregory F. Udell... has produced a volume that will prove invaluable both for industry practitioners as well as business students seeking entry," writes Sidney Rutberg in the November/December issue of The Secured Lender. Rutberg analyzes Asset Based Finance: Proven Disciplines for Prudent Lending, which was authored by Udell, Bank One chair of banking and finance at Indiana University's Kelley School of Business and a 1968 graduate of DePauw University.

"While the volume makes copious use of formulas, charts, tables and the rest of the standard academic equipment, Professor Udell's style is lucid and gently seasoned with a touch of unprofessor-like humor," Rutberg asserts. "This groundbreaking textbook covers all bases in an important and fast-growing industry that has been in the shadows of finance for much too long."

Professor Udell has more than sixty publications on topics such as financial contracting, credit availability, monetary policy and financial intermediation. He has also been a visiting economist and consultant to the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System and is currently a consultant to the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and The World Bank. He will be a visiting scholar in the spring of 2005 at the Bank of Japan.

Published bi-monthly by the Commercial Finance Association, The Secured Lender is the only publication devoted exclusively to the asset-based financial services industry. Visit the magazine online by clicking here.
