New Coach Cessie Wright '02 Invigorates Michigan School's Volleyball Program
December 17, 2004
December 17, 2004, Greencastle, Ind. - "I'm very encouraged with how much we've accomplished, even with the few weeks we've had as a team," says Cessie Wright, volleyball coach at Holland, Michigan's Black River Public School and a 2002 graduate of DePauw University. A story in the Grand Rapids Press notes, "One note of encouragement for Black River's new volleyball coach is that the number of players has quadrupled from last year. The River Rats had only enough players (eight) to field a varsity team last season. This year, it is much different. Black River has 16 on varsity and 16 on its first-ever JV team... First-year coach and biology teacher Cessie Wright is excited by what she has seen."
Wright tells the newspaper, "I think there's a lot of potential to have a good record this year, but we do have a lot of new girls so it's also a building year. If we can come together as a solid team unit, we're going to play really well." The article notes that Wright is "a graduate of DePauw University."
