Senior All-American Jamarcus Shephard Contributes to East's 20-13 Hula Bowl Victory
January 22, 2005
January 22, 2005, Wailuku, Hawaii - DePauw University All-American senior Jamarcus Shephard caught two passes and returned a punt for the East team, which prevailed in a 20-13 victory over the West in the 2005 Hula Bowl. Down 6-0, the East scored 20 straight points in the third quarter. Shephard was one of two NCAA Division III players invited to participate in the game, which drew approximately 50 National Football Leagues scouts and was televised on ESPN2.
After Shephard hauled in a pass in the fourth quarter (see it here: [Download Video: "4th Quarter Reception" - 3275kb]), the commentators noted, "Not only was he a two-time Division III All-America at DePauw, he was rather busy off the field. He interned with the Philadelphia Eagles, he mentored 13 students with a partner, majored in sports medicine, [and is a] member of organizations on campus such as Men of Excellence, the Cross-Cultural Alliance and the Student-Athlete Advisory Board. A true student-athlete, Jamarcus Shephard."
