Tigers and New Coach Nick Mourouzis Recapture the Bell, 21-14

November 14, 1981, Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw University wrested the Monon Bell from Wabash College for the first time since 1975 as the Tigers defeated the Little Giants -- who entered the game ranked fourth in the nation -- 21-14 at Blackstock Stadium this afternoon. A pass from Rob Doyle to Mark McConnell provided the difference as the Tigers battled back from a 14-7 deficit, earning new coach Nick Mourouzis his first Bell victory.
Wabash entered the game unbeaten in its last 24 outings.
The two teams battled to a 14-14 tie at halftime. The Tiger defense shut out the Little Giants in the second half. Fans literally climbed trees for a good view of the action.
