Peggy Palo Boyles '70 Receives Florence Steiner Award

March 10, 2005, Greencastle, Ind. - Peggy Palo Boyles, foreign language coordinator for Putnam City Schools in Oklahoma City and 1970 graduate of DePauw University, is the recipient of the Florence Steiner Award for Leadership in Foreign Languge Education from the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL). The Steiner Award honors the memory of a teacher, department chair, professional speaker and ACTFL president-elect and is given annually to an individual who demonstrates excellence in teaching, service and instructional leadership at the local, state, regional and national levels.
In honoring Boyles, the ACTFL noted, "By guiding andsupporting teachers and providing practical examples of quality lessons and activities, she has directly and indirectly impacted instruction in countless classrooms across the nation... In everything she does and accomplishes, Peggy maintains her sense of humor and creativity and embodies the characteristics of the life-long learner many of us strive to be. She inspires and challenges teachers, supervisors, post-secondary professionals and students to achieve their highest potential."
