DePauw's Cycling Team in 7th Place One-Third of the Way Through National Championships

May 14, 2005, Greencastle, Ind. - "Day one of the 2005 Collegiate Road Cycling National Championships saw the best student athletes in the sport square off in the weekend's opening event," begins a Cycling News synopsis of yesterday's action. DePauw's cyclists are in seventh place of Division 2 with 97 points; the Lees-McRae Cycling Team leads with 155. The championships continue today and Sunday. The event began with Friday's Outdoor and Bike Criterium in downtown Lawrence, Kansas.
Cycling News lists four DePauw cyclists among yesterday's leaders. Among the women, Jenna Boyd was fifth, Carol Hutton finished 11th, and Jillian Gierke was ranked 23rd. On the men's side, Phil Mooney was 32nd.
