DePauw Cyclists Finish Seventh at National Championships

May 16, 2005, Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw University's cycling team finished seventh in the 2005 Collegiate Road Cycling National Championships, which took place Friday through Sunday in Lawrence, Kansas. Whitman College led the Division 2 teams with 508 points. The DePauw team, which again finished tops in the midwest during the season, collected 353 points over the three-day event, which drew 350 students from 70 collegiate cycling teams around the country. Thirty-eight teams from 10 conferences competed in Division 2.
In yesterday's team time trial, DePauw's women finished second behind Whitman, while the men finished tenth. Individually, DePauw's Jenna Boyd was #6 among women with 179 points over the three days, while teammates Carol Hutton (10th, 160 points) and Jillian Gierke (18th, 83 points) also finished among the top 20 women cyclists.
