John Huneke III '67 is General Chairman of 2005 PGA Championship

August 10, 2005, Greencastle, Ind. - John H. Huneke III, a 1967 graduate of DePauw University, is serving as general chairman of the 87th PGA Championship, which takes place August 11-14 at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, New Jersey. "We're proud that they are now going to be a part of our history and tradition and I certainly hope that they feel that way as well after this championship is completed and that we will continue to have the wonderful relationship that we're developing with the PGA going forward," Huneke, a Baltusrol member, told reporters at the event's media day, as reported by PGA.com.

Today's Buffalo News carries a preview of the tournament, which quotes Huneke as saying: "Baltusrol has always been a pretty long golf course. What we've tried to do in our changes over time is to keep the course playing the way Tillinghast would have wanted it to be played, hitting the same kind of shots to greens. On No. 3, for instance ... players were getting so long ... they would be hitting 9-irons."
