Improvisational Comedy of Will Pfaffenberger '04 Subject of Newspaper Story
September 9, 2005
September 9, 2005, Greencastle, Ind. - "With a degree in communications and a job in promotions, Will Pfaffenberger is certified with the gift of gab," Indiana's Hendricks County Flyer writes of the 2004 DePauw University graduate. Carly Nation notes, "it wasn't until he hit college that the forum of improvisational comedy grabbed his attention. He and some others at DePauw University who were itching to joke on stage created the improv group, Unimprovable. 'And then, that's where I kind of got started doing improv,' he said."
The article states that Pfaffenberger "did a little bit of writing" for radio's nationally syndicated Bob and Tom Show, "saw an audition for ComedySportz Indianapolis on an online message board, tried out, and became part of the comedy theatre company... Similar to the television show Whose Line Is It Anyway?, comedy 'players' are judged by the audience, and then given points in different improvisational games. After being a ComedySportz performer for only six months, Pfaffenberger and six other players represented Indianapolis in the ComedySportz World Championship in Hollywood. After a weekend of competition and workshops, Indianapolis placed third out of 20."
"ComedySportz is important in developing really quick wit, and fast thinking, developing short scenes, and creating characters and stories," Pfaffenberger tells the newspaper. "So it's kind of like a building theater."
