Barbara Pierce '70 One of St. Louis' 'Most Influential Business Women'
September 28, 2005
September 28, 2005, Greencastle, Ind. - "Barbara Pierce is as passionate about philanthropy as she is about public relations, and she enjoys an opportunity to mix the two," begins a profile in the St. Louis Business Journal. The publication has recognized Pierce, a 1970 graduate of DePauw University, as one of St. Louis' "most influential business women." Pierce "founded Millennium Communications Inc. in 1993 and has grown the firm from two employees to eight. It is a full-service public relations agency that specializes in crisis management and media relations" and is the city's 14th largest based on revenue, the Journal notes.
"For me what's rewarding is to be able to do the PR support needed for fund-raising efforts and to make a contribution through what I do professionally," Pierce, who serves as president of Millennium, says.
The article notes that the firm recently opened a second office in Springfield, Missouri, and it highlights Pierce's many charitable activities. "This year she chairs the public relations committee for the James S. McDonnell U.S.O., serves as the vice chair of the Women Leaders Special Edition for Old Newsboys Day and helps Wounded Warrior St. Louis get aid to soldiers hurt in battle." Barbara Pierce also offers her public relations expertise to the St. Louis Speakers Series.
"Barb has been one of St. Louis' most influential people for a long time," says John Gray, principal at Gray Design Group in St. Louis and longtime Millennium client. "I am glad she is receiving recognition."
