October 1, 2005
October 1, 2005, Greencastle, Ind. - "I like the fact that I get to work with animals and use my theatre background in this job," says Ben Hunt, a 2001 graduate of DePauw University, who works at Chicago's Shedd Aquarium. "I never thought that I'd be able to combine the two. This is a lot of fun." An article in Illinois' Danville Commercial-News profiles Hunt, "one of four narrators of the Shedd's marine mammal presentations, he gives a half-hour performance as many as five times a day."Barbara Greenberg writes, "Throughout his childhood in Danville, Hunt appeared in school and community theater plays. After graduating, he attended Indiana's DePauw University and majored in biology. 'About midway through college, I decided that I wanted to act,' he said. Hunt continued his studies, though, and graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in biology. He worked a variety of jobs, including touring with a children's theater company, before he moved to Chicago. 'I saw a posting for a position with the Shedd Aquarium,' Hunt said. 'The qualifications included public speaking or a performance background.' His audition landed him the job in January 2004."
