Matt Allen '04 Selected to Join Amateur Cycling Program in Belgium

February 11, 2006, Greencastle, Ind. - "The Phoenix, USA-based elite amateur team Cycling Center-Bio Racer has announced the 2006 roster for its Belgian-based racing program, targeted primarily toward elite U.S. amateurs," and it includes Matthew Allen. A resident of Boulder, Colorado, Matt Allen is a 2004 graduate of DePauw and competed as a member of the University's cycling team in the 2003 and '04 national collegiate championships.
Cycling News points out that "a number of Cycling Center alumni who have moved to the professional ranks or are leading figures with top amateur teams in the last few years."
"This is a major honor extended to only the very best of amateur cyclists," says Kent Menzel, associate professor of communication arts and sciences and coach of the cycling team. "I'm thrilled for Matt."
