Prof. John Spicknall's Piano Trio Performs 'Jazz at the Duck' Thursday

steinway d piano 2.jpgFebruary 15, 2006, Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw's newest jazz studies professor, pianist John Spicknall, will lead his trio as part of DePauw Jazz at the Duck this Thursday, February 16. The concert, which is free and open to the public, will run from 9 to 11 p.m. at Walden Inn’s Fluttering Duck.

A much sought after clinician and jazz performer, Spicknall's piano performance credits include appearances at the International Association of Jazz Educator walden flowers.jpgConventions and concerts with such jazz artists as Art Pepper, Bobby Shew, Clark Terry, Gary Burton, and Louis Bellson. Also a member of the Indiana State University music faculty since 1969, Spicknall teaches courses in the areas of jazz performance, jazz education and for years he was director of the ISU Jazz Ensemble.

Performing standards by Dave Brubeck, Bill Evans, Cedar Walton and more, Spicknall will be joined by DePauw professor and bassist Paul Musser as well as drummer John DiCenso.
