July 17, 2006
July 17, 2006, Greencastle, Ind. - "I'm going to be around live music-making all the time, and that's such a wonderful privilege," says Melinda Whiting, the new vice president of communications at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. Whiting is profiled in today's Philadelphia Inquirer, which notes "Whiting, 45 ... has a bachelor of music degree in music/business with a concentration in voice from DePauw University." Melinda Whiting is a 1981 graduate of DePauw.
Although new to Curtis, "Whiting often dealt with the school over the years, such as when she worked at WHYY-FM for nearly 12 years as a producer and reporter," writes Thomas J. Brady. "Earlier, she was an on-air host at WFLN-FM. For the last 10 years, she was editor of Symphony magazine, which is published by the American Symphony Orchestra League. She also hosted the national radio broadcast series of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra and the New York Philharmonic."
