August 14, 2006
August 14, 2006, Greencastle, Ind. - James B. Stewart -- Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, bestselling author and 1973 graduate of DePauw University -- is the 2006 Delta Chi of the Year. The fraternity honored Stewart at its international convention in Cleveland, July 26-30. Stewart, who chairs DePauw's Board of Trustees, also recently received the Gerald Loeb Award, the highest honor in business journalism, for his book, DisneyWar.
Additionally, Wallace J. Nichols '89 was one of three recipients of the Distinguished Delta Chi Award. The citation was made "in recognition of Dr. Nichols' accomplishments as a wildlife biologist and conservationist, especially as president of the International Sea Turtle Society and founder of Ocean Revolution, where 'J' encourages young people to help protect our oceans," notes the fraternity.
DePauw's Delta Chi chapter was among several cited at the convention for outstanding alumni newsletter, outstanding campus leadership, and outstanding Web site.
