DePauw Cycling Team Places 10th at NCAA Track Championships

September 26, 2006, Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw University's Cycling Team competed for the first time ever at the NCAA Track Cycling Championships, held at Major Taylor Velodrome in Indianapolis, September 21-23. The team placed 10th overall, led by sophomore Abby Dean, who scored ninth in sprint competition, and also placed in the 2000 meter pursuit and 500 meter time trial.
Phil Mooney (kilometer time trial; seen in photo at left courtesy of TrueSport.com), Ross McEntarfer (points race), and John Stallings (sprints) all scored points for the DePauw men. Abby Dean and Erin Whitmore were fifth in the team sprint, and Dean, Whitmore, along with Andrew Daugherty, Nathan Gentry, John Stallings, and Phil Mooney placed ninth in the Italian Pursuit. Also competing for DePauw was Kraig Kirchner, who was injured on the first day of competition.
