Vernon Jordan '57 to Honor Rev. Jesse Jackson, Raise Funds for Scholarship Foundation

October 5, 2006, Greencastle, Ind. - "National notable" Vernon E. Jordan Jr. will be among the honorees at an October 28 fundraiser in Chicago, reports that city's Defender. Jordan, former president of the National Urban League and 1957 graduate of DePauw University, and others including U.S. Representatives Maxine Waters and John Lewis, will "help the Rev. Jesse L. Jackson Sr., of Rainbow/PUSH Coalition fame, celebrate his 65th birthday during a gigantic party and fundraiser for the Jackson Scholarship Foundation." The event, co-chaired by Camille Cosby (wife of comedian Bill Cosby), will take place at the South Shore Cultural Center.
