College Guide Includes Quotes from DePauw's Brett Kennedy
November 6, 2006

In another article, on college admissions tests, Held writes, "Each college or university has its own entrance-exam requirements; some accept SATs only or ACTs only. Others offer some flexibility." DePauw's Kennedy notes, "We require one or the other, and we take whichever one they do better on."
Later, Kennedy states, "Every student’s story is different. We look at the test score along with the grade-point average and the rigor of the courses they took in high school as a measure of student academic performance. Everything we do, every question we ask is driving toward one thing: Can the student do the work and will he or she be an academic success in our environment?" He adds, "We encourage students to take a test more than once, because the second time they take it, they’re more familiar with the environment. That’s true for both tests -- ACT and SAT."
