Prof. Emeritus James Cooper Honored for Historic Preservation Efforts

November 23, 2006, Greencastle, Ind. - "A DePauw University professor emeritus of history has won the 2006 Servaas Memorial Award for historic preservation in the individual category," reports today's Indianapolis Star. "Greencastle resident Jim Cooper won the annual award from the Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana for his work to preserve Indiana's bridges."

The Star's "In Brief" column continues, "Cooper's books catalog many of Indiana's historic bridges. He also has testified at public hearings in favor of preserving old bridges threatened with demolition. The individual award carries a $1,000 cash prize."
