Sophomore's Performance with Lafayette Symphony Orchestra Draws Rave Review
December 7, 2006
December 7, 2006, Greencastle, Ind. - During Saturday night's performance of Indiana's Lafayette Symphony Orchestra, "the stage was owned by Shie Kantor, a soprano, formerly of Jefferson High School's Music Department and now a student at DePauw University where she is majoring in vocal performance and dance," writes Dick Jaeger in the Courier & Journal. "Her moving rendition of the aria 'V'adoro pupille' from the second act of Handel's Giulio Caesare displayed remarkable control and a near coloratura range. She followed this with a coquettish performance of an aria from Der Freischutz coolly displaying her comfort with acting and stage movement." Kantor performed estra Saturday as one of three winners of the 2006 Lafayette (Indiana) Symphony Orchestra Keller Competition. As a finalist, Kantor also received a cash prize.
