Fisher Fund for Faculty Development Created

December 21, 1981, Greencastle, Ind. - A gift by John W. Fisher, chairman of the board of Ball Corporation and member of DePauw's Board of Trustees, and his wife Janice -- announced today -- will create the the John W. and Janice B. Fisher Fund for Faculty Development at the University. Resources from the Fisher Fund will enable DePauw's faculty development program to support the scholarly, artistic and curricular development of faculty members and to recognize the outstanding achievements of DePauw faculty members.
The Fisher Fund "will be used to reward deserving and excellent faculty members at DePauw," says Fred Silander, vice president.
"This gift will do much to improve what is one of DePauw's historic strengths: teaching," says Robert G. Bottoms, executive vice president of the University. "The Fisher Fund will significantly boost the University's ability to strengthen and sustain a vibrant teaching and learning environment that benefits students. The generosity of John and Janice Fisher will benefit the DePauw community for generations to come."
