"In a speech at DePauw University, Hubbard said that Bush's speech this year would generate 'headlines above the fold that will knock your socks off in terms of our commitment to energy independence.'" The comments, which were printed in yesterday's Financial Times of London, were originally made October 27 at DePauw Discourse 2006: Issues for America.
The Greenwire article adds, "Administration sources say Bush will expand upon last year's promotion of alternative fuels and possibly propose raising fuel-economy standards, but the president will not move toward embracing mandatory emissions-reduction legislation."
