DePauw Hosts Special Olympics State Basketball Tournament This Weekend

Special Olympics Running dribble.JPGMarch 9, 2007, Greencastle, Ind. - Approximately 320 young athletes will converge on the DePauw University campus this weekend to compete in the 2007 Special Olympics Indiana women’s state basketball tournament. Thirty-two teams from across the state will take part in championship play at DePauw's indoor tennis and track center. Approximately 500 volunteers will assist throughout the weekend, including many DePauw students.

Tournament play begins at 11 a.m. Saturday and continues until 6 p.m. Sunday's games begin at 9:30 a.m., with play concluding by 4 p.m.

“Special Olympics Indiana is proud to provide the world’s only stand-alone women’sspecial olympics logo.gifstate basketball tournament for Special Olympics athletes,” says Dave Breen, director of sports management for Special Olympics Indiana. “We appreciate DePauw University’s consistent support as host of the event and look forward to a competitive and inspiring championship tournament.”
