Prof. Clifton Phillips to Teach in Korea Under Fulbright-Hays Fellowship

Clifton Phillips 2.jpgApril 9, 1968, Greencastle, Ind. - Clifton J. Phillips, professor of history at DePauw University, has received a Fulbright-Hays Fellowship to teach next year in Korea. Phillips will be associated with three Korean universities where he will help establish American studies programs.

During the first semester, Dr. Phillips will be affiliated with Sogang Jesuit College and Korea University in Seoul and with Chonnam National University in Kwangju. Second semester, when his lectureship duties have ceased, Phillips will have an opportunity for study and research in Asian history. He plans to visit Korean libraries and museums as part of his research. 

In 1962, Phillips was one of 30 U.S. college professors who received a Fulbright Award to attend a special summer institute on Chinese civilization in Taiwan.East College No Leaves 2006.jpg

Clifton Phillips joined the DePauw faculty in 1964 after receiving his Ph.D. from Harvard University. He has been a leader in the development of the non-Western and intercultural curricula of DePauw.
