Joe Dayan '82 to Oversee Indianapolis City Market
June 21, 2007
June 21, 2007, Greencastle, Ind. - Joseph W. Dayan, a 1982 graduate of DePauw University, has been appointed executive director of the Indianapolis City Market. "Dayan's experience ranges from managing regional and corporate restaurant operations such as Po Folks Restaurant and Bally’s Corporation Restaurants, to developing restaurants in Union Station and founding Dayan’s Catering," notes the Indianapolis Star.
Opened in 1821, the Market is in the final stages of a more than $2 million renovation. The project ran over budget and behind schedule under the previous director, but Dayan is upbeat.
“The new Indianapolis City Market will bring together growers, consumers and community to celebrate both the Market’s heritage and its renewed commitment to providing downtown urbanites and their suburban counterparts with fresh and delicious foods,” he says.
A communication major and football letterman at DePauw, Dayan believes the market can be successful "with the right nurturing and vendor mix."
