STATISTICS

September 23, 1995, Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw freshman John Stigall (Oxford, Ohio/Talawanda H.S.) rushed for touchdowns of eight and 10 yards, while the DePauw defense stopped Albion three times inside the DePauw 15-yard line in the second half as the Tigers upset the defending NCAA Division III national champions by a 14-3 score.

The loss for Albion snapped a 28-game regular season winning streak and a 16-game streak overall. DePauw improves to 2-1, while Albion falls to 3-1.

Albion's Michael Zacha put the Britons on the board on the opening drive with a 25-yard field goal and that's all they would get. Stigall's first score came with 5:28 left in the first half and gave the Tigers the lead for good. He added a 10-yard scamper with 5:49 left in the third to put DePauw ahead 14-3. Stigall finished with 91 yards rushing on 18 carries and caught five passes for 42 yards.

The visiting Britons advanced inside the DePauw 15 on three successive drives in the second half, but were stymied each time. The first of the three ended with a fumble, the second with an interception and the third on downs. The Tigers held on despite losing the ball three times in the second half on fumbles.

DePauw's Jon Clippinger (So., Indianapolis/North Central) completed 23 of 33 passes for 208 yards with no interceptions. His top receiver was Jamie Cunha (Jr., Westford, Mass./Westford Academy) who caught nine passes for 96 yards.

Chris Hohlbein (Fr., Shepherd, Mich./Shpeherd) led the Britons with 85 yards
rushing on 20 carries, while Chris Barnett (Jr., Genesee, Mich./Genesee) caught seven of quarterback Kyle Klein's (Jr., Frankfort, Mich./Frankfort) completions for 94 yards.

Albion is off next week, while DePauw opens Indiana Collegiate Athletic
Conference play at home against Franklin.
