Russell Hart '50 to Receive 2007 Legendary Lawyer Award

August 12, 2007, Greencastle, Ind. - Russell H. Hart, a retired senior counsel of the Lafayette law firm Stuart & Branigin LLP and 1950 graduate of DePauw University, has been selected by the Fellows of the Indiana Bar Foundation as the recipient of the 2007 Legendary Lawyer Award. Hart will be honored at a luncheon on Friday, September 21, at 11 a.m. at the Holiday Inn Select – City Centre in Lafayette.
"A practicing attorney for 51 years, Hart was selected based upon his demonstrated adherence to the highest principles and traditions of the legal profession and compassion though service to his community," notes an announcement from the Indiana Bar Foundation. "As a result of these traits, Mr. Hart has remained an involved member of several law-related groups throughout his professional career and into his retirement."
Hart is an active member of the Indiana State Bar Association, which he served as president, treasurer, chairman of the Trial Lawyers Section, and as a member of theBoard of Governors. He is also a former vice-president and secretary of the Indiana Bar Foundation.
Hart was honored as a Sagamore of the Wabash for his professional and community service activities. A resolution was adopted in Hart's honor by the Tippecanoe County Bar Association in honor of his fifty years in practice.
The Fellows of the Indiana Bar Foundation, founded in 1979, is a membership group of attorneys throughout Indiana recognized for their dedication to the legal profession, support of access to justice for all Hoosiers, involvement in and contributions to the legal community and the community at large and demonstrated integrity and character.
