Two Alumni-Led Companies Among Fortune's 'Top 20 for Leaders'

Fortune October 2007.jpgSeptember 23, 2007, Greencastle, Ind. - Two businesses led by DePauw University graduates are among North America's 20 "Top Companies for Leaders," according to Fortune magazine. General Mills, which is guided by chairman and CEO Steve Sanger '68, is fourth on the list, while Cummins Inc. and chairman and CEO Tim Solso '69 come in at #14. General Mills is also ranked as the sixth best company for leaders globally.

Sponsored by global human resources services company Hewitt Associates, in partnership with The RBL Group and Fortune, the Top Companies for Leaders were selected and ranked by a panel of judges based on criteria including leadership practices, company reputation, leadership culture and values, East College Wide NLa.jpgand business performance. The 2007 list can be found at Fortune.com and will appear in the October issue of Fortune magazine, on newsstands tomorrow.

Next month, Tim Solso -- who serves on the University's Board of Trustees -- will be honored as the 2007 recipient of the Six Sigma CEO of the Year Award as well as DePauw's Old Gold Goblet. On June 27, Solso received the International Executive of the Year award from the Academy of International Business (AIB). Sixteen days earlier, he was presented with the 2007 American Business Award for "Best Chairman."

Steve Sanger was recently appointed to a board that advises the National Football League's Minnesota Vikings. General Mills is among the nation's top 50 firms for diversity, according to a recent survey by DiversityInc magazine.
