Patricia Ireland '66 Elected President of National Organization for Women

December 15, 1991, Greencastle, Ind. - Patricia Ireland, a member of DePauw University's Class of 1966, was today elected president of the National Organization for Women (NOW). With 250,000 members, NOW is the largest organization of feminist activists in the United States. Since its founding in 1966, NOW's goal has been to take action to bring about equality for all women.
Ireland, an attorney and activist, has served as vice president of NOW since 1987. She became acting president earlier this year after Molly Yard suffered a debilitating stroke.
