March 16, 2008, Greencastle, Ind. - Last week, the Rocky Mountain News "proposed the notion of what a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony might look like if it were just Colorado artists nominated," writes Mark Brown. His readers are now offering suggestions. "Jimmy Ibbotson, of Nitty Gritty Dirt Band fame, resides up in Woody Creek, not only responsible for some of the finest Colorado songs ever written (Ripplin' Waters, Sarah in the Summer, Telluride, for starters), but still puts out wonderful CDs on his Unami label," writes one.

Ibbotson is a 1969 graduate of DePauw University. He joined the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band immediately after college. J.P. McDaniel of the Canyon Courier of Evergreen, Colorado, wrote, "The band's success soared after Ibby came on board and has remained steady for the past four decades, with approximately 30 albums. Their influence can be seen in other greats, such as the Eagles, Emmylou Harris, Linda Ronstadt, John Denver and others."
Jim Ibbotson also provided the vocals for the perennial favorite, The Ballad of the Monon Bell, which can be heard here.
