Screenwriter of The Great Debaters Here Sunday

May 1, 2008, Greencastle, Ind. - Robert Eisele, whose original screenplay for The Great Debaters was a Golden Globe nominee for best picture, will come to DePauw University to discuss his work this Sunday, May 4. The film will be screened at 7 p.m. in the ballroom of the Memorial Student Union, to be followed by a discussion with Eisele. The program is free and open to the public.
The Great Debaters, which was directed by and starred Denzel Washington, won four NAACP Image Awards, including one for best screenplay. Eisele's script also won the Writers Guild of America's Paul Selvin Award. The film was also honored by the Producers Guild of America, the National Board of Review, the Women Film Critics Circle, and the African-American Film Critics Association.
Principal photography began last month on Eisele's original screenplay, Patriots. Tim Story is directing the project, with Forest Whitaker -- who was also featured in The Great Debaters -- starring in the film.
Eisele's previous projects include writing 3: The Dale Earnhardt Story for ESPN, and serving as executive producer of the Showtime series, Resurrection Blvd.
