Prediction of Wabash Blowout Lays Goose Egg After 0-0 Football Game
October 9, 1909
October 9, 1909, Greencastle, Ind. - A back-and-forth battle on McKeen Field this afternoon ended the way it began, with the scoreboard showing zeros for both DePauw University and Wabash College. The two rivals spent much of the game trading punts. DePauw, led by coach Arthur M. Brown, is now 0-1-1 on the season, while the Little Giants are 2-3-1.
The performance of the DePauw eleven made a mockery of the prophecy of a Crawfordsville newspaper columnist who had predicted a 60-0 Wabash triumph.
After today's game, Coach Brown offered, "It was a great battle and virtually a victory for us." Jesse Harper, the head man for the visitors, stated, "I am proud of the Little Giants one and all."
