Tony de Nicola is 1986 Walker Cup Recipient

May 12, 1986, Greencastle, Ind. - Anthony J. de Nicola's leadership on campus and the football field is being recognized by fellow members of his senior class. Awarded annually to the senior who has contributed the most to the life of the University, the cup is named for Guy M. Walker, Class of 1890.
As a three-year starting quarterback at DePauw, de Nicola set numerous passing records, including most touchdown passes (41), and touchdown passes in a single season (24) and in a single game (5). He was named to the CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) College Division First Team Academic All-America squad and was top vote-getter among quarterbacks in NCAA Division II and III and NAIA. He was awarded a National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame Scholarship as well as an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship.
A member of Phi Beta Kappa, de Nicola was honored during both his junior and senior years with the Randall Wilson Award for being the outstanding student in economics. He has been active in the Management Fellows program and is a member of the Mortar Board and Gold Key honoraries.
