New Teaching Job Has Heather Leichty '99 "Verging on Giddy"
August 13, 2008
August 13, 2008, Greencastle, Ind. - "I'm definitely excited," says Heather N. Leichty, a 1999 DePauw University graduate, who has been hired as music teacher at Indiana's New Palestine Elementary School. "I would say I'm verging on giddy," Leichty tells the Greenfield Daily Reporter.
The article notes Leichty's degree from the DePauw University School of Music and her love of all things musical. "My mother would claim that I was dancing in the womb," she tells the newspaper. "My father plays the guitar. When he would strum the guitar, I would kick. I've responded to music as long as I've been a being."
Leichty, who taught in another Indiana school last year, enjoys working with elementary-aged pupils. "I get to be a kid," she says. "The reality is that in order to reach kids, you have to be able to communicate with them on their level. I love to laugh and have a good time."
