NFL Scout Johnathon Stigall '98 to Enter HS Athletic Hall of Fame
September 24, 2008
September 24, 2008, Greencastle, Ind. - Johnathon Stigall, a scout for the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles and 1998 graduate of DePauw University, will be among the 2008 inductees into the Talawanda High School Athletic Hall of Fame. The ceremony is set for October 9 at the school, which is located in Oxford, Ohio.
Stigall "was an outstanding athlete while at THS, participating in basketball and track his freshman and sophomore years, but excelling in football as a three-year varsity performer," notes the Oxford Press. "Stigall burst onto the scene his sophomore year as a backup tailback on the outstanding 1991 championship football team that went all the way to the regional championship game. In that playoff game, he had to spell an injured Jeremiah Kennedy (H of F class '06) and he produced time and time again. He continued his success the next two years as the starting tailback."
Coaches described Stigall as a "game-breaker," adds the report. "His senior year he rushed for 1,824 yards, had 2,560 all-purpose yards, scored those 27 TDs and was named the Talawanda MVP. For his accomplishments that year, he was chosen to play in the annual North-South All Star game in the summer of 1994. After graduation, Johnathon went on to play football for DePauw University and experienced the same kind of successes."
At DePauw, Stigall was a four-year letterman at running back and earned all-conference and second team Division III All-America honors following his senior season in 1998.
