Matt Bowers '97 Inducted Into HS Athletic Hall of Fame
December 26, 2008
December 26, 2008, Greencastle, Ind. — Matt Bowers, a 1997 graduate of DePauw University, is one of six inductees into the Granville (Ohio) High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Bowers and the other members of the Hall's 2008 class were inducted last Friday.
"This is the best of the best who have walked the halls at Granville High School," activities director Tim Dennison tells the Granville Sentinel.
The article notes that in high school, Bowers was center for a Blue Aces basketball team that was ranked #2 in the state, and was also the Mid-State League-Cardinal Division football "lineman of the year." The newspaper notes that Bowers later "starred at DePauw" where he won the "prestigious Coach's Award."
A sidebar also points out that Bowers -- an economics major at DePauw who went on to earn an M.B.A. from Vanderbilt University -- is now vice president of total rewards and entertainment for Harrah's Entertainment.
