February 1, 2009, Greencastle, Ind. — "Take some local doctors and lawyers, add in one television medical reporter and a few regular doses of rock 'n' roll and R&B, and what do you get?," asks Cathy Kightlinger in today's Indianapolis Star. "Henle and the Loops, a local band named after the smallest functioning part of a human kidney." The band's three founders, notes the newspaper, include Dr. Barry Krieble of Nephrology and Internal Medicine Inc., a 1981 graduate of DePauw University.
"The band started several years ago in a basement, said Krieble, 49. Since then, they have added horn players and recruited WRTV's medical reporter Stacia Matthews to sing," writes Kightlinger. "To date, Krieble said Henle and the Loops has raised more than $200,000 for various charities."
"We play anything from Tower of Power, Earth, Wind and Fire, Motown, The Beatles . . . It's the stuff we like to dance to," Dr. Krieble says. "It's a lot of fun and a great hobby."
