Prof. Martha Rainbolt Honored for 'Teaching Excellence and Campus Leadership'

September 18, 1990, Greencastle, Ind. — Martha M. Rainbolt, associate professor and chair of English at DePauw University, is a winner of a 1989 Sears Roebuck Foundation "Teaching Excellence and Campus Leadership Award." Dr. Rainbolt is one of nearly 700 faculty members recognized nationally by the Foundation for resourcefulness and leadership as a private college eductor. The award program is administered by the Foundation for Independent Higher Education.
Each winner receives $1,000, and the institution is awarded a grant ranging from $500 to 1,500, depending on student enrollment. Rainbolt was honored at today's faculty luncheon.
Rainbolt was an English instructor at Stephens College from 1974 to 1979, when she joined the DePauw faculty. She is a member of the University's administration committee and serves on several faculty committees.
The professor received her bachelor's degree from Baldwin Wallace College in 1960 and her master's from the University of Missouri in 1971, where she was awarded a Ph.D. in 1977.
Rainbolt is a member of the Modern Language Association, American Society for 18th Century Studies, American Association of University Professors, and the National Women's Studies Association.
