Lisa FitzGibbon '77 to Receive Ernest Talbert Award

Lisa Henderson FitzGibbon 09.gifSeptember 18, 2009, Greencastle, Ind. — Lisa (Hamilton) FitzGibbon, president and CEO of the Easter Seals Work Resource Center and Building Value in Cincinnati and 1977 graduate of DePauw University, is the 2009 recipient of the Ernest Talbert Award. FitzGibbon will be honored by Talbert House as one of three individuals who have helped the community and agency’s mission at a luncheon next Friday, September 25.

The Ernest Talbert Award was established in 1992 to honor an individual who has acted as a benefactor or advocate for Talbert House in promoting its community awareness of community corrections, mental health, East College Up Summer 2008.JPGsubstance abuse and welfare-to-work issues in the community. Dr. Ernest Talbert (1879-1971) was Professor Emeritus of Sociology at the University of Cincinnati. He was an early leader in advocating the use of community alternatives to incarceration.

FitzGibbon is in her thirty-first year of service to the Easter Seals Work Resource Center. She is a member of the Hamilton County Human Services Planning Committee, the Xavier University Entrepreneurial Advisory Board, and the YWCA Academy of Career Women. FitzGibbon has previously been honored as a YWCA Career Woman of Achievement and was presented with the Tomko Lifetime Achievement Award by the Southwest Ohio Rehabilitation Association.

A sociology major at DePauw, FitzGibbon completed graduate work at Indiana University and DePaul University in Chicago.
