Violinist Stephanie Sant'Ambrogio Prepares for Monday Recital

October 23, 2009, Greencastle, Ind. — "Stephanie Sant'Ambrogio and her violin have performed all around the world: Sweden, Italy, Chile and Ghana, just to name a few," begins an item in the Journal and Courier of Lafayette, Indiana. The feature notes that Sant'Ambrogio will be performing in Indiana over the next few days, including a recital at DePauw University Monday, October 26, with pianist and DePauw School of Music faculty member Nariaki Sugiura.
"My mother went to DePauw and we'll be playing there," Sant'Ambrogio tells the newspaper. The violinist's mother, Margaret "Peg" (Steffen) Sant'Ambrogio is a 1957 DePauw graduate and has served on the Alumni Board.
Monday's program begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Green Center for the Performing Arts, Thompson Recital Hall.
Stephanie Sant'Ambrogio is an assistant professor of violin and viola at the University of Nevada - Reno. "She was in her early 20s when she landed in the Cleveland Orchestra, an acclaimed orchestra that often performs in different hemispheres," writes Tim Brouk. "But Sant'Ambrogio's music life started in Indiana. Her mother is from Vincennes and she excelled at Indiana University. For the first time since graduation, Sant'Ambrogio will perform in Indiana with concerts in Indianapolis, Bloomington and Greencastle."
