Senior John Drake Loses His Battle with Cancer

February 9, 2010, Greencastle, Ind. — John Michael Drake II, a DePauw University senior, passed away Sunday, February 7, at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 22 years old.
Born October 24, 1987 in Terre Haute, Indiana, John Drake was an economics major and Management Fellow at DePauw.
"The entire DePauw community sends its deepest condolences to the Drake family," says Cindy Babington, vice president for student life and dean of students. "His is a loss we all feel deeply."
"His illness was very serious from the beginning," Gary Lemon, director of the Management Fellows program and professor of economics told The DePauw, "but he always had a really positive attitude and can-do spirit."
Visitation is Thursday, February 11, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Callahan-DeBaun Funeral Home, 2425 Wabash Avenue in Terre Haute. Funeral services will be Friday, February 12, at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home, with the Rev. Father David Rabeneker officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
The family has suggested that memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
