John Norberg '70 Reflects on His 40th Reunion
June 21, 2010
June 21, 2010, Greencastle, Ind. — "Last Saturday, I attended the 40th reunion of my class of 1970 from DePauw University," writes John Norberg '70 in Indiana's Lafayette Journal & Courier. "Forty years! Does this mean my 40-year-old college diploma is now middle-aged? And if my diploma is middle-aged, what am I?"
In a piece which was published on Father's Day, Norberg states, "When I was a 22-year-old college graduate and looked in the mirror, I saw myself as grown up and mature. Today when I look at 22-year-olds, they look so young ... It's bad enough that my diploma is now 40. In addition, this week our youngest child, Beth, will turn 29 ... Over the years that have passed so quickly, I've learned a lot from my 40 year old diploma and our 29 year old daughter. And among the most important things I've learned is this: We measure wealth the wrong way. Wealth isn't in possessions. Time is greatest our treasure."
