Dentist Jason Phelps '98 Brings Skills to Community Health Center

July 28, 2010, Greencastle, Ind. — Jason M. Phelps, D.D.S., a 1998 graduate of DePauw University, has joined the staff of River Hills Community Health Center in Centerville, Iowa. "Phelps is a general practice dentist, and will provide services such as extractions, root canals, crowns and fillings for patients," notes an item in the Daily Iowegian. "Like the medical part of River Hills, the dental clinic will accept all forms of insurance, Medicare, Medicaid and will charge underinsured and uninsured patients on a sliding fee scale based on income."

"I was looking to get into public health," Dr. Phelps, who majored in biological sciences at DePauw and graduated cum laude, tells the newspaper. "I've been an associate in private practice and it seems like we were always turning away a lot of people because they didn't have insurance."

He adds, "I'm looking forward to serving the community and getting involved, not just here in the clinic, but also in other aspects in a small town."

The article notes Phelps' DePauw degree and that he is also a graduate of the Indiana University School of Dentistry.
