Soccer Coach and TV Producer Brad Hauter '87 Develops Life at the Crossroads
November 2, 2010
November 2, 2010, Greencastle, Ind. — Brad Hauter, head men's soccer coach at DePauw and 1987 graduate of the University, also serves as president of MMY Productions. The television production company is behind the shows Junk’d, The Green House Project and Pinks All Out, and now -- according to the Terre Haute Tribune-Star -- has a new program in development, Life at the Crossroads.
The show, being shot at Crossroads Dragway in Terre Haute, will focus on "storylines generated by the race track’s owners, drivers and fans," writes Brian Boyce.
Hauter declares, "We want to tell the story of the drivers and track, not just the cars, which is the norm."
The newspaper points out, "Junk’d is currently on about 300 affiliates ... Pinks All Out is now in its sixth season, Hauter said, explaining Life at the Crossroads is slated for 13 episodes in the first season, the first of which was being shot Saturday. The group will begin pitching the show at networks in January and it should be up and running week after week by next June."
The text notes, "'We’re excited to see what kind of storyline develops,' Hauter said,
adding that the Crossroads Dragway is the only track in America to host
the Fast 33 at the 330, a specific race which focuses on the first 330
feet of the track. 'So it tests the drivers in a different way than
traditional drag racing,' he said."
Boyce adds, "The Riley resident originally hails from Chicago, but graduated from
DePauw University in 1987 before playing professional soccer for 10
years. 'I kind of stumbled into this,' he said of producing independent
television. While doing promotional work after his soccer career, the
television work just sort of came along, and he’s been running MMY
Productions for seven years now."
