Katy Franklin '04 Publishes First Novel, Hi, How Are You?

May 28, 2010, Greencastle, Ind. — Katy Franklin, a 2004 graduate of DePauw University, has published her first novel, Hi, How Are You?.
"Anyone who has ever been a server will tell you that waiting tables has its highs and lows," notes the publisher's synopsis of the book. "But waiting tables at a New York City Times Square tourist trap has its extreme highs and lows. Hi, How Are You? chronicles one young woman's point of view as she moves to the Big Apple and secures her dream job ... as a waitress." It calls Hi, How Are You? "an insightful, delectable and ultimately, humorous foray into the restaurant industry's crazy world."
A communication major at DePauw, Franklin has worked in talent management and marketing for the arts, casting for musical theatre, and as a casting assistant for ABC television's prime time casting department in both New York and Los Angeles. Her writing experience includes short stories and articles for well-known dating and travel blogs.
